Reggie: The mod has been under development for a while now and actually before it was really moddable on Frosty. OS: Has the team figured out all that can be modded, or are there new possibilities still being discovered? As of right now, we have around 10-15 people with many that have been in and out, and some that only work on it part-time.

Thankfully, many from the OS community and beyond have come together to work on this wonderful full conversion mod. The community has been craving some NCAA Football, and I decided to create a Discord and get some folks on board. Reggie B., NCAA Mod Member: When we think about the origin of this mod, it goes back, at least for me, to the community. Operation Sports: Who originally had the idea for this mod, and how many are currently contributing? I had a chance to talk with the group creating this mod to find out what exactly can and cannot be accomplished with this current mod, what will be included, and when it will be available for the community.

Thankfully for our group, and many others, there is a small group of dedicated PC aficionados from Operation Sports that still retain that same passion, and have decided to put it to good use by creating an College Football Mod 19 that utilizes EA’s Madden NFL 19 PC release as its base. While some still play an updated version of NCAA Football 14 to help fill the void left by the demise of the once proud franchise, many do not have the ability to overcome the lack of graphical polish or a past-gen system to do so. And if the lawsuit that took our precious football title away had never happened, our dynasty would still be going to this day. While it seems weird to have been so emotionally invested in a video game title, all of us were and made no apologies about it. And if it was a head-to-head game that was being streamed, shut it down because all eight of us would watch that game as if we had bet a year’s worth of paychecks on the outcome. Our group would sit in party chats for hours and give play-by-play specific breakdowns of the game we were playing. It was a social event that I can only comparatively associate with a Friday night card game with the boys. For us though, and many others, it was much more than just about playing a game that we loved. I personally belonged to a dedicated group of 10 individuals who would do battle year in and year out for online dynasty supremacy.

The settlement was in regards to former college athletes alleging that EA had used their likenesses (sizes, skin colors, home states, and jersey numbers), but not their names or permission. For fans of NCAA Football video games, it has been five long years since the release of NCAA Football 2014 by EA Sports.
These legal disputes and a settlement ended up costing EA over $40 million. EA struck a new three-year deal with the CLC to continue making college football games following its loss of the NCAA license, but many of the big conferences, including the SEC, decided against licensing their trademarks for use in EA Sports game, which contributed to the eventual cancellation. We have a lot of really exciting work ahead of us, and a great team that is eager to bring a new game to players in the next couple of years.” In 2013, the NCAA decided not to renew the EA Sports contract over the ongoing legal issues regarding the use of player's names and likenesses in the game. “We love the energy, tradition and pageantry of college football and I am beyond thrilled to say we are back in development.
"We’ve heard from the millions of passionate fans requesting the return of college football video games,” said Cam Weber, EA SPORTS EVP and GM. No further information was given on the reboot of the franchise, but EA encourages fans to follow on Twitter for more updates in the future. The EA Sports college football franchise garnered "tens of millions of sales" during its run from 2005 to 2014 and was a "top-five sports title in North America." EA Sports College Football will include "the rights to more than 100 institutions featuring logos, stadiums, uniforms, gameday traditions and more that fans have come to know and love." EA does note that "while this college game will not include student-athlete names, images and likenesses, EA SPORTS is continuing to watch those developments closely." For the first time since 2013's NCAA Football 14, EA Sports is returning to College Football.Īnnounced on Twitter via a small tease that "College Football is coming back," EA revealed it will be partnering with CLC - the nation's leading collegiate trademark licensing company - to become the exclusive developer of simulation college football video game experiences.
